7 powerful guided meditations for beginners
Meditating in total silence can be quite tricky and difficult at first.
If you’re also struggling with this, then guided meditation can be a great alternative for you.
It’s one of 8 different meditation options that I wrote about for you guys in an earlier post. (you can read that post here!)
The name “guided meditation” speaks for itself: it’s a type of meditation where you are guided. Either by someone in person, or from a recording. It can either be guidance through music and sounds, or through verbal instruction, or even a combination. This type of meditation is designed to help you calm your mind and find inner peace.
Like I said: it can be quite useful if you struggle with meditating in total silence. Because what can easily happen, is that you for instance start thinking things like: “am I doing this right? What should I be doing? Why am I thinking so much? I’m terrible at meditation, I’m sure of it. What should I do next?”
When someone actually tells you what to do, and you just have to follow someone’s voice, it’s so much easier to calm those thoughts. For sure, your thoughts can still wander, but at least you can come back to the guiding voice or sounds whenever you feel ready.
When I first came into contact with guided meditation, I was a bit younger. It was during a group session. As a complete beginner, it was quite hard to stay focused the whole time, but it was also quite fun and relaxing to be able to enter this fantasy world in my mind! It amazed me how one teacher guiding us with the same words, could bring us all to a very different place in our minds.
Endless choice of guided meditations
Doing guided meditation in a group is of course just one way to do it. You can also do it by yourself at home. The Internet is full with endless amounts of guided meditations!
But sometimes the problem with too much choice is that we don’t choose at all. (A great example is endlessly scrolling through Netflix to find the perfect movie or show. And then spending so much time on searching, that you end up not watching anything at all! We’ve all been guilty of that 😉)
So to make sure you don’t bump into that problem to start with, I made a great list for you with 7 powerful guided meditation videos for beginners.
Each of these videos has a slightly different focus or angle, so that you can decide for yourself which one speaks to you the most. Or you could try them all out over the course of a week: 1 video per day. 😊
At the start of each video I briefly described for you what their focus is.
Enjoy!
Guided meditation 1: Mindful breathing
This guided meditation video is specifically made for beginners. So if you don’t have any or not a lot of meditating experience, then this video is for you! The video focuses on mindful breathing and uses simple instructions.
Guided meditation 2: Simple Meditation For Beginners
This video is also very suitable for beginners and also focuses on your breathing. Next to that it helps to clear the mind of too many thoughts.
Instead of just using a voice like in the first video, this guided meditation uses soothing background music along with vocal instructions.
Guided meditation 3: Focus and productivity
This guided meditation is a great way to start your day with a sharp mind and great focus. It will help you to feel increased energy, productivity, motivation, and clarity for the rest of the day. It is therefore best if you do this meditation in the morning!
Guided meditation 4: Miracle Morning Meditation
Like video number 3, this guided meditation is also best done in the morning. The name already gave it away of course! This miracle morning meditation helps you to come at peace and helps you to visualize a productive and wonderful day full of positivity.
Guided meditation 5: Calm your thoughts and overthinking
As the name suggests, this guided meditation video will help you to calm your thoughts, and reduce anxiety and overthinking. It’s a great meditation to start your day with if that is something that you’re struggling with. But it can of course be done at any time of day. It only takes 10 minutes of your time.
Guided meditation 6: Positive mind
This 5-minute meditation can be done at any time of day. Whenever you are in need of more positive thinking in your life, listen to this video. It will guide you towards a more positive mindset.
Guided meditation 7: Setting your day’s intentions
Like the other videos, the last guided meditation of this list is also very powerful. This video will allow you to set your intentions with Deepak Chopra. It will help you the create the situations, senses, and events that will organize themselves around those intentions. Only 4 minutes, but very powerful indeed!
Final notes:
Did you find any of these 7 guided meditation videos helpful? Please share you experiences by commenting below!
Also, if you want to start each day with a morning meditation routine, please make sure to check my earlier blog post on how to get started with that. And simply replace the 1-2 minutes meditating, with a guided meditation video. 😊
It can be personal what kind of voice or sounds you prefer to listen to in a guided meditation. If one doesn’t resonate with you, don’t worry, another might do the trick for you. Like I mentioned: there are SO many guided meditations out there. So there is 100% something in there for everyone. Also for you.
So if you’re ready to take the next step after trying out these 7 videos for beginners, try to narrow down your searches to make choosing easier. Try for instance to combine certain keywords, depending on what you are looking for. For instance: guided meditation for productivity, guided meditation for gratitude, guided meditation for sleeping well, etcetera.
Good luck with your guided meditation journey, and please let me know how it goes!
